Help Finding Low Income Housing

If you are one of the many Americans dealing with financial hardships, you may be looking into finding low income housing options.  Low income housing is affordable housing for low income families.  This kind of housing can be available through many different sources including city, county, state, non-profit, real estate, and government based programs.

Low income housing eligibility is determined by your income for the year.  This number can fluctuate depending on where you live, the amount of expenses you have, and the amount of dependents of your family.  Check out websites where you can search by state for low income housing program options in your area to see if you qualify and how to apply.

One option you can explore is Section 8 housing.  With Section 8 you are placed on a list based on your household need.  When an affordable housing option for your family becomes available, you are required to pay only 30% of your monthly income as rent.  You can visit your local HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) for more information on how to apply.
