DIY Christmas Card: How to Do it Like a Pro

It is now the season of giving and spreading joy. Thankfully, you do not need to be rich to make someone happy this holiday season. No need to buy expensive gifts! You can make your own card with short Christmas sayings or Christmas phrases. Clueless about how to do it? Keep on reading and learn from some of our tips on how to create a DIY Christmas card.

Craft a Heartfelt Message

More than anything else, one of the most important is perhaps to craft a message that comes from the bottom of your heart. You do not need any template! Do not just copy any message that you can see online. Spend the time to think of short Christmas greetings, or if you have a humorous personality, come up with funny Christmas card messages. As long as you speak from the heart, it is sure to be well-appreciated.

Keep It Simple

In one article from The Guardian, a Christmas card expert shared one tip – avoid clutter. The simpler the card is, the easier it will be to make. Especially if you do not have the artistic skills, it is better to be safe than sorry. Leave lots of white space instead of having an overly decorated page.

Use Paper Cutouts

If you are feeling crafty, you can create paper cutouts. You can cut papers or cardboard in the shape of a tree, snowflake, or poinsettia, among other holiday themes. Use different colors to make the cards bright and joyful. You can have them glued in the card to make it more personal.

Use Washi Tapes

If paper cutouts are too complicated for you, enter the world of washi tapes. For a long time now, a washi tape has been one of the must-haves for anyone who is into arts and crafts. The tapes are already printed, so all that you have to do is to figure out how to put it in the card. The easiest way is to create a Christmas tree pattern using the washi tape.

Paint it Up

A burst of color will make the card look better. With this, all that you need to have is a white cardboard, paint, and a pen. Start by drawing an outline. It should be Christmas themed, such as a Christmas tree or balls. Paint it with your choice of medium. Watercolor will also be great. Finish by putting your calligraphy skills into work by writing a personalized message.

Reuse your Supplies

DIY Christmas cards are budget-friendly. If you are imaginative, you may not even have to buy supplies at all. You can use paper scraps that look beautiful and not cheap. For instance, if you have an old envelope, you can use it for the card. You can also use papers from old invitations that are blank.

What are you waiting for? Start making your DIY Christmas card today and take note of the tips that have been mentioned above. It is the perfect way to spread love and happiness!
