Simple Ways for Moms to Incorporate 'Me Time'

Something most moms don't get enough of, but is very necessary, is that elusive 'me time'.  I'm not talking about those brief moments you get alone in the bathroom without kids barging in.  I'm talking about those special moments you set aside for yourself as a mom.  Time for letting go of your stress and tension.  The following are some simple ways that you could incorporate 'me time' that will leave you feeling relaxed and recharged.

Pamper Yourself

You know that stuff that many of us moms never get the chance to get to as often as we would like, such as getting a massage or a pedicure?  Create some space on your calendar at least a couple times a month to pamper yourself.  If you don't have the extra funds to shell out at the nail salon or at a spa, create your own spa at home!  Polish your nails and even try out a new face mask.  By making the time to pamper yourself you will feel recharged and ready to take on the rest of your week!

Read a Book

Reading a good book is a great way to spend some time relaxing and getting lost in the pages.  Kick back with your book, a snack, and some tea or coffee to really savor the time alone.  Another great idea is to pack your book and a small picnic lunch and find a nice quiet park to soak up the sun.  Have you stopped by your local library or bookstore lately?  Consider picking up some daily devotionals for women to inspire you.  Whether it's a book, newspaper, magazine, or online blog- reading is a great way to unwind.

Start a Journal

An excellent way to spend some 'me time' is by writing in a journal.  Jotting down your thoughts, experiences, and feelings in a journal can help you to reflect on your day.  There's plenty of great journals out there to get you started.  There's your everyday journals, as well as journals that you can jot down memories and stories to pass down to your children.  Just five minutes a day spent writing in a journal can be a very rewarding way to spend some personal time.
